Let the Light Shine!  (day 3 of 5 of spring cleaning checklist)

Day 3 of the 5 day spring cleaning checklist.  We made it past the halfway mark! Today’s homestead spring cleaning checklist was all about letting the light in.

I don’t usually create a checklist when cleaning.  I just know what needs to be done throughout the week and will ask my boys for help here and there. Sometimes, they grumble while they work, and sometimes, they help with a happy heart. But I have been so pleasantly surprised with how responsive and excited they are about the cleaning checklist.

They wake up in the morning, looking to see what is next on the list for the day, and ask if they can get started right away with whatever cleaning task is at hand. I just might do these types of checklists more often around my house.

If you missed the start of our spring cleaning week, here are the links to my favorite cleaning materialsday 1, and day 2 of the checklist.

We started with dusting the blinds and shaking out the dusty curtains. I use long, heavy blackout curtains in the bedrooms, and they collect so much dust.

After dusting, came the window cleaning with my favorite homemade vinegar spray. I use this multipurpose spray for everything. I make a new batch every 3 or 4 days. Here is the recipe I use to make this easy and inexpensive spray.

Multipurpose Cleaning Spray:

Glass amber spray bottle

Filtered water

5% to 7% vinegar

Tea tree essential oil

Lemon essential oil

Thyme essential oil

Mix 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water. If using a 16-ounce bottle, add 20 drops of tea tree, 20 drops of lemon, and 10 drops of thyme essential oil.

We finished off our day of cleaning with the light fixtures.  First, we dusted all of the bulbs, then used a multipurpose cleaning spray and a non lint rag to wipe down the inside and outside of the glass on the lights.

    Rachel,
Your home is so beautiful! You and I are very similar in our multipurpose sprays! I’m diffusing “Serenity” as I type this! I added a few drops of honeysuckle to my bottles. I just recently bought the same as yours–with the silicone bottoms. I love them! I’m so happy to see you two days in a row! Tell those boys “way to go” too! God bless you, my friend! You make my heart smile!

Hi Karla! Thank you, I love being home, and it brings me joy to be able to care for it. I love the idea of adding honeysuckle to my multipurpose spray. I have some and will definitely do that when I make my next batch! Blessings to you! Thank you for your kind words and always being a light for Him.
